TREKKING DIFFICULTY LEVELS

The following scale reflects the difficulty of the trip considering the technical specifications, experience required, altitude and duration of the trek. The grades are roughly estimated and you have to take into account the difficulty varies depending on your personal fitness and experience.

Easy
Trekker should expect easy 4 hours of hiking a day. You should be in good shape.

Moderate
A typical day consist of 4-6 hours of walking with an elevation gain of 500 to 800 m / 1,600 to 2,624 ft. A good condition is a must.

Our Trekking Excursions have been designed as day hikes that will allow you to acclimatise properly before attempting some of the major volcanoes. As with the Climbing Excursions the idea is to depart from Quito, but we can arrange to pick you up from another town or city that might be closer to the mountain you choose to climb.

In each trip we will suggest some cultural tours or other activities as complimentary extensions depending on the area where the mountain is. After some of these hikes we can book you to stay the night at some nice "haciendas", which are countryside farmhouses converted now into cosy lodges.

Remember that we can develop a tailor made itinerary that will give you the opportunity of making the most out of your time, budget and specific interests.
