Santiago Quintero reached 8.400m on KII!
Santiago Quintero is an ecuadorian mountain guide and a friend who was attemting KII ( the second highest mountain of the world) as member on an intenational expedition. On the 4th of August he reached 8.400m and had to retreat due to soft snow and avalanche danger. Ivan Vallejo climbed Dhaulagiri in Nepal and completed the 14X 8.000m peaks
Ivan Vallejo Ecuadorian climber and friend completed his quest of climbing all the 8.000m peaks without the use of supplementary oxygen. His last objective was Dhaulagiri his 14th and last 8.000m peak!.
Ivan Vallejo was born in Ambato, Ecuador, on December 19, 1959. A natural born climber. Soon in his climbing life summited the main andean peaks of Ecuador, and gave up everything for the Himalayas. He first summited Manaslu and Broad Peak, but it was Everest that made him well known after he became the first Ecuadorian to summit in 1999 and without supplementary O2. CONGRATULATIONS Ivan from his ecuadorian climbing mates!!
