What skills do I need?

  • Ecuador volcanoes is a mountaineering trip for fit trekkers who want to experience a first high-altitude glacier travel.
  • There is no need to be a very experienced high-altitude climber. However, having some level of trekking or hiking experience can be a big plus.
  • There is no need to have previous technical skills or glacier travel techniques (crampons, ice axe, self-arrest).

What physical conditions do I need?

  • Anyone with high-moderate physical fitness is welcome to join this trek.
  • Volcanoes expedition is more physically demanding as we do the top 3 most challenging Ecuadorian volcanoes (Cotopaxi: 5.897 m / 19.300 ft, Cayambe: 4.600 m / 15.092 ft Chimborazo: 6.310 m / 20.696 ft)

  • Gym workout.
  • Cardio step aerobics or any other cardio is a high-energy workout.
  • Running, hiking, swimming, cycling, or practicing your favorite sport are all excellent ways to train for a trip to Ecuador.

Note: The majority of our clients have found the climbs of Ecuador physically more demanding from what they initially thought.

EQUIPMENT

We understand how important it is for our clients to have the right equipment on their trips; that is why we provide you with a specific and detailed gear list after receiving your application form.

If you already want to have an idea before booking, you can download the gear lists on our Expeditions and Excursions pages.

We recommend to always purchasing quality equipment: we realize that this may be expensive, but it can mean the difference between reaching a summit and not.
