Juliana García

She is one of the best women UIAGM certified guides from Ecuador that has a worldwide experience.

She climbes the mountains of Ecuador since she was fifteen years old.  Her experience has led her to guide many mountains and big walls throughout the Andes in Peru, Bolivia, Colombia, as well as in Pakistan, Alaska, United States and the Alps.   She is the first female Ecuadorian certified IFMGA mountain guide and was the President of the Association of guides for 6 years.  Her many occupations include beeing instructor in the Ecuadorian guiding school ESGUIM, beeing a Patagonia Brand Ambassador and an AIARE Avalanche Education Instructor.

Her climbing achievements include a first ascent of Huandoy East north face in the Peruvian Andes rated at TD + V + M3/4.   Together with her climbing partner Joshua Jarrín, they were recognized for this complex ascent in the 2012 list of climbs chosen by the organization “Piolet d’or”.  Recently, she and Anna Pfaff did another first ascent in Bolivia named  ¨La ruta del Solsticio¨ located on the northeast face of Tiquimani, rated 5.10b R. in the summer of 2016.
